For those of you who have an hour to kill, check out this vid of Jeremy Clarkson putting American cars up against European cars @ Willow Springs. He blows up a Harley Davidson, puts down a Vette Z06, compares a Roush and a Saleen Mustang, a Escalade, a H3 and a Land Rover, a Viper vs a Z4 M3 roadster. It makes perfect sense, american cars are just not up to par with European cars or even Japanese cars :biggrin

RRnold, this should not surprise you. What has been the most important performance indicator on any american car? Its called the 1/4 mile. We build sh!t really well to go straight, but not handle curves.

Cool vid ... but ol' Jeremy is a little ridiculous at times. I've driven the C6 Z06, and it's not a bad for daily driving ... especially since it's the best bang for the buck sportscar in the world!
Jeremy would probably hate the 1098 because it would be great on the race track, but not be as comfortable as a Goldwing on the road. :BangHead :lmao

I really like Clarkson and agree with him on American vehicles. But it surprises me that he put down the vette because he did a review of the Z06 recently and he was raving about it. He even confessed that he was wrong about American cars........to an extent.

He absolutely HATES motorbikes though. My fiancee and I met him in France purely by accident as we pulled into a service station and he was filling up a Bugatti Veyron (€1,000,000 and 1000bhp...almost). He was challenging his co-presenter to race him back from Italy to the National Westminster Bank's Tower restaurant in London, and see who could get to the bar first. He was in the Bugatti and the other guy was in a small light aircraft! All this for the BBC's "Top Gear" programme. Jeremy had already picked up two speeding tickets B4 he had even left Italian soil !! He is an amusing and intellectual journalist and presenter, but he openly admits that he hates bikes. His co presenter (one of two) Richard Hammond, was only recently back writing his usual column in MCN after his horrific 230mph jet powered car crash that gave him a massive brain injury from which he stunned doctors by making a full recovery. Quite a tenacious man. I have attached two photos. One of Mr C filling up the beast and the second when my other half stopped to have a chat with him. His head really is that huge by the way!!
Lastly here is a link to the Top Gear site and the feature

Try telling that to a die hardcore blue oval (Ford) or a bow tie (chevy) fan!?! They'll probably put down an argument just like some of the die hard 1098 fans here! :lmao

Remember, Jeremy has driven some of the most exotic vehicles in the world. I don't think a Vette would be on his top ten list. He doesn't like motobikes but would probably like the 1098 only because it's Italian. :biggrin

Thats awesome! :badgerslayer Jeremy has some of the best catch phrases, it's hilarious! :lmao
"In many ways, then, this car is like herpes... GREAT fun catching it, but not so much fun to live with every day"

Anyone see the video of ol' Jeremy's Ford GT that he ordered, and the POS broke down every time he drove it. I'm sure he loved Fords after that! :lmao

What kind of an ass would drag a gas hose across the back of a one million dollar supercar? Are you kidding me?

The kind who doesn't have to foot the bill for the damage I suppose. It's a million Euros in actual fact and this particular car had twin tanks so you had to fill each up separately. That's exotica for you.

You are correct. Ass sounds a bit lame when you are trying to be derogatory. Perhaps one reason why the Americans love the UK bike mags so much as they don't seem so constrained when it comes to dishing out their honest opinions of a product be it good bad or "shite".
