Got this idea from one of my other forums. How many of you would like to do something like this? All support each other type thing? You follow others on here, and you can report your own progress...anyone?

I think we should:

Take a before and after photo
Post work out regiment and or diet
Goals
Progress

Anyone?

I lost 50 lbs on the MAX OT program. After breaking my finger drunk one night in Charleston I havent been able to stick to it since. I'm 15 lbs back on now. Get a lifting partner and learn how to do natural building...

it is faily IMpossible to ever reach the weight of your BMI over the age of 15.

i am 5'6" and 183 pounds this morning
that is HORRIBLE
my "happy weight" is around 167
my BMI tells me that i OUGHT to be 154....
i could NEVER be 154.... unless ILLNESS takes over my life and i don't look forward to THAT happening :(

Ok.....so here is the deal. I will try and take a photo of myself today when I get home and post it up.

Can we make this a sticky or something? I think we should post daily about what we ate, and what we did at the gym.

December 30th:
- 30 minutes on eliptical
1) Lat pull down at 120 8 times X 2 then 130 8 times X 2
2) Dumbbell rows...30 pounds at 8 X2, 35 pounds 8 X2
3) Cycle crunches 1 minute
4) Jump squats 1 minute
- 20 minute 2 mile that involved springs and walking the last .50 of a mile

Food:
- Water throughout the whole day
- Breakfast: Eggs with ham, and wheat toast
- Lunch: Pasta
- Dinner: Chicken with mushrooms and broccoli

Sunday:
Breakfast was the same as yesterday and currently at work. Will have an apple and some pasta. Dinner is shrimp with chicken.
Gym:
Warn up with a run
- Today is all core...crunches, chest, and back.

Will report later on tonight.
Happy new years!
Joe

If you really want to loose weight, you should try eating multiple small meals throughout the day.
breakfast
snack before lunch
lunch
snack before dinner
dinner
Eating this way keeps your metabolism steady throughout the day, thus burning fat on a stable level, rather than spiking up and down like it does eating three meals a day. Anyone need advice, just ask. I am a personal trainer as a hobby.

Why would I get in better shape? I eat what I like. I still fit in my leathers. And my bike has more then enough horsepower to drag my fat ass to where I want.

+ I may be ugly and in bad shape, my bike is a babe magnet.

If you want to loose weight, fast walking on an incline is MUCH better than running/jogging.

lol...nice.

Ok so here you go. Sunday I changed the routine and did this other stuff. 15 pound weights used for all.
1) 60 seconds of jumping jacks
2) 20 squats
3) Split squat with a bicep curl
4) Seated rows 20 at a time
5) Bent over rows and horizontal rows
6) Prone and hold

Do all those one right after another.....you will be tired.

This is a great idea. I am starting to get soft and I at one time was a beast, (thus the caveman thing). I have put on enough winter fat, and am ready to start trimming. The problem is, my regiments keep me at around the same weight. I simply cut fat but build muscle in its place. I will never be less than 235lbs.

Break up your meals into six per day. This will keep your metabolism going through out the day.

Focus on your simple carbs in the morning, and the rest of the day try to consume more complex carbs. (wheat, oatmeal, sweet potatoes) Protein is a must for staving off hunger.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Stay away from diet drinks... the sodium in those things is horrible for you.

Allow yourself one day to cheat.... eat whatever you want, but control your total calorie count.

For exercise, it's simple.

Weightlifting burns more calories than jogging or running if you've only got an hour or so to spend. Running/walking/biking requires you to stay in a certain heart range (hence the word cardio) and makes it harder to burn the fat off. Muscle (gained from lifting) burns calories even when you're resting.

If you have anymore questions, let me know.

Last night I went to the gym and this is what I did for a work out.

10 minutes on eliptical machine for warming up.
50 pounds in each hand, 4 sets of 8 calf raises
1 minute of jump squats holding 20 pounds
50 crunches
40 pounds in each hand, 4 sets of 8 press's
20 pounds, butterflies.
130 pounds lat pull down 2 sets of 8, increased to 150 and 2 sets of 6.
1 mile on the treadmill mixing up speeds from 3mph to 12mph sprints in .25 intervals.

Went home and ate....
Chicken on the grill with peas and water.

Aweome G, Since Christmas, I have lost 35+ pounds by simply watching WHAT I eat...I have always had a thick muscle body type, therefore, even though i MIGHT be 5ft 9", I cannot get below 200 even when I was in my 20,s and in shape. I am presently 218 and still going down, time to hit the gym and tighten back up and burn burn burn the rest!

I just found this thread. I have been fighting weight since i was 15. My family has slow metabolic genes I guess. I go to the gym 4-6 times a week. I usually do a back, chest, legs, arms and occasionally shoulder workout along with 2-3 hours of cardio a week and core type exercises.

I actually enjoy it and if I don't I usually don't sleep too well. I have been working out since I was 15 and since that time there have been only a handful of times where I have not done something active for more than 5 or 6 days.

I did chest and abs yesterday and will be doing legs tonight. I had a bad back for about 5 years but recently had Prolotherapy done (maybe you have heard of this Greg) and it seems to have helped considerably. Totally recommend it to anyone with soft tissue issues.

Anyway I am about 186 right now. The heaviest I have been is 198. With my current height and muscle I would like to be about 175 but I just like to eat too much. Although I have been slowly lowering my calorie intake and slipping in the occasional salad only type meal with some low fat cottage cheese. I was kinda sick last week and got down to 182, the lowest I have seen since about 1999 or so.

My leg workouts have transitioned to mostly plyometric movements, which make me sweat my ass off! I recommend them to everyone.

Most recently I have come to fully understand the importance of stretching and that can take up to 20 or 30 minutes at the end of my workout.

BMI is the biggest crock of shit ever. According to that stupid scale, I am morbidly obese and need to lose weight. Last time I checked, morbidly obese people don't play semi pro football (OLB) and hockey along with hittin the gym 5 days a week with 2 hours of cardio a day.

To hell with the BMI, it means nothing. Bodyfat percentage and aerobic capacity is what really matters. If you can't get on a biek at the gym or the eliptical and do 30 minutes with no problem, you need to do more cardio. If your bodyfat is in the teens, you are doin okay. Weight should only be looked at if you are like me and need to be in the 230s for the combine, of which I fared pretty well last year with my 30 reps of 225, woot!

No more football for me though, got a promotion at work so my head bustin days are over in that respect. I still play hockey at least once a week, which is good to get some aggression out.

I was always in shape and big without trying, then I hit about 37...40...43....and my waist all of a sudden was going upwith my age....NOW I gotta work it at it...

:notworthy :notworthy

Props on that one. I'm only good for about 15 reps or so, but in my (part time) line of work you have to be able to walk 10 or more miles with 70lbs on your back, and still be able to run 5 miles in under 40 mins...

So big and bulky = get left behind :(

hey, just found this thread. I have been working out regularly since high school (now 29). I have always lifted wieghts, but was never into cardio until recently. I used to play lacross in high school/college and never really needed to worry about cardio fitness as a result.

Here are some words of advice that could be very useful for you guys trying to burn fat. When doing any cardio you should keep your heart rate a lot lower than you think. I.E. I am fairly fit and to burn any serious fat, my heart rate can't go above 135 or so. Anything more, and I am burning a great deal more sugar than anything else.

Also, about 3 years ago I went out and purchased a road bike. After reading that most F1 drivers, and a lot of MotoGP guys use this a primary means of cardio, I figured give it a try. Well, 3 years later I am probably into road cycling as much as I am into Ducati's. WARNING!!!! This hobby is almost as expensive as a Ducati addiction. My current bike is about $4,000 and gear can easily match that (shoes, clothes, helmets, tires, tubes, roof racks, etc). End result, I am 5'6", wiegh about 147-150, have a resting heart rate of 44 beats per minute. In the gym I am still able to put up about 300lbs on the bench (was over 400lbs in college but don't have 2 hours a day to work out anymore), and my legs are now far stronger than they ever where given the bicycle.

If you are serious about getting in better shape, it is all about commitment. Between work/commute, I am out of the house 14/15 hrs a day, and still find time to work out. It is a lifestyle thing. You have to make it a part of your life, not a task to obtain a goal.

It only takes a few hours a week, and dedication. After a few months it becomes a part of your life and you feel like something is wrong if you don't work out. Also, the bicycle thing is actually a lot of fun to do. My wife and I go out all the time together. In the first 3 months of riding it (3 years ago), I lost 20 lbs.

Diet changes are really the biggest change you can make to see the most effect in the shortest amount of time. I remember when I first starting bulking up from just after high school, I was poundin down McDonald's cheeseburgers at the rate of 5 per day, sometimes more. It had the desired effect of a ton of mass, but at the cost of a lot of energy and depression. I always felt like crap and was tired, I just though it was from workin out all the time. I took 1 week off of burgers and fries and holy shit! I needed half as much sleep, woke up with more energy, and was much happier. Over 10 years later, I have yet to touch another fry or burger.

I'm not a vegetarian at all, I'll eat the hell outa some steak! Just look at your junk part of the diet and see what you can change, it will make a ton of difference.

I met up with my friends there, and these were their beers, not mine...but it sure does look that way in the photo. haha

NO, my wife now has be trained for doing those fancy pancy martini's.. in fact, making some now... a squirt of gin, squirt of orange voldka, squirt of tangerine juice, squirt of frangellico and a squirt of Lemond Liquor... i have no damn idea if its any good....
