initially, as some drunken conversation progressed (with my parents) i was starting to suspect that my father was not actually my biological father (dad and family were stationed in cyprus, mom and brother were evacuated in late '74, dad stayed so timing was in question). as details came out, it appears i was conceived in egypt.

my maternal grandfather was born in india, and still has his indian citizenship (although he is of british decent and now resides on vancouver island). my paternal grandfather is of icelandic decent. soooooooooooo, im a mutt...and proud of it :biggrin

no worries. i just always found it interesting that most people associate to a certain nationality be it american, or other. i was born and educated in canada, and work int the us. i consider myself canadian, and yet have little allegiance to canada. ive known many 1st gen canadians who say they are 'crotian', 'german', or other because they are a direct descendant from a foreign land.
im not sure where im going with this :wflag

well...
in the long run....
the man who raised you is really your "FATHER," which has so many more meanings than just someone who's genetic material helped to create you.

as a pediatrician, i can fully appreciate that fact

i hope that the revelation will be a good thing in the long run

Hmmm...... Egypt, huh?
Some millenniums ago you could have ended being a pharaoh :Jiggy :biggrin

BTW don't fear the biological father thing vs timming, because you look a lot more icelandic than indian :beer

Well my Mum was born in Egypt of Italian parents and my father is Scottish. I live in the UK but spent many years in Italy as a child with my grandparents, so I am a bit of a hybrid. It's all part of the rich tapestry of life.

Anyone can be a Dad........... it takes someone special to be a "Father"

i would love to be positive, but in all honesty my father/dad didn't raise me. not to say he wasn't around, he just didn't seem to care. things are much better now, but to say he was a part of youth would be a lie.

:pissed

but i still turned out okay :)

i actually prefer this forum compared to that 'other' place we all know where every thread seems to end up with a gang rape on the guy who disagrees.
