View Full Version : American vs Oz 1098 problems.

l haven't heard of alot of Oz members having stalling issues with their 1098's as the US members are having with their's, and with a US member having stalling issues with his 08 1098, l was wondering, are the Oz members having as much trouble as the US members or are you all just keeping quite?

I did have the stalling issues however they were fixed at the 1k service and have had no further problems.She is running brilliant now.

Cheers duc13, l only ask as l'm supposed to be receiving my 1098 in November and with all the threads about stalling issues with the 07 and now the 08, it has thrown me off a bit getting the 1098.

Dont worry about it Grunter , if your buying off of a reputable dealer and you have any problems they will fix it under warranty.
Frasers in Perth went out of there way to get mine sorted.

Picked mine up last week - no stalling problems to date (with std exhaust). I do have the problem of the headlights fogging up in wet weather though.

l am buying from a reputable dealer in Melbourne so l don't think l will have problems there.

Cheers for the compliment dude. It's always nice to get positive feedback and if you let your dealer know you are happy with their service they will always go out of their way to be as helpful as possible.

I've had my S since Feb. Apart from the recalls the only issue I've had is one missing fairing screw. Oops, I tell a lie, I've also had condensation in the the dash. This seems to have dissapeared lately, though I still reported it to the dealer who is waiting for a responce from Ducati Aus.

l just think it's strange that SO many of the US 1098's are stalling and not many Oz 1098's are? Is the US model any different to the Oz model eg. emissions and such?

Here in the UK, it's a similar situation to OZ, there are very few bikes stalling, and those that do seem to get fixed pretty quickly.

IS there a difference for emission control etc., or are the US services centres not very good???

We also seem to focus on the posts of those stalling, how many US owners don't have a problem.
