The LA Crew needs to meet first at the 5/605 Chevron where we almost got jacked, then move to the 91/605 to park and stare at the Halal market, then go to 210/134 to pick up stragglers, then we can make our way to the 10/60 by Santa Fe and buy some of the bacon dogs that are so famous in LA.
Then we can make our way to the final meet spot at the 805/74 to join with the Nor Cal crew.
I'll strap my other suit to the back and wrap the arms around me so it'll look like I have a pillon and then I can change in and out of the 2 suits.

No bleach pen... you have to avoid the chili in the first place, by eating at arm's length as you hold it out from the body while tilting the torso thusly at a 70 degree obtuse angle. Man, do I have to think of everything?

It is pretty hard to imagine how fast the expert level cats go. I have a buddy who won the Expert level Middleweight last year on a Ducati 749R, he runs 1:24's consistently and his best is 1:22...needless to say I don't like going to Big Willow trackdays with him because everytime I get a new personal best, he just makes me feel even slower :sweat

Mark... how could you go with the Celtic? You should've gotten the Astars race replica. It is a bargain at $1,800. Or get the Arlen Ness Nakano for $1700. Man....
Anyway, yeah, at Big Willow a 1:30 would barely get you qualified for the seniors race. I can do a 2:24 no problem though.

Yeah, I called the guys at SportbikeTrackGear who are all Expert Level Racers and they all swear by the Celtic, saying that it is the best suit for the money (comparable to a $1000 suit) and crashes well...hopefully I won't be crash testing it, but I definitely don't want to be crash testing my $1400 Spidi suit. Yeah, 2:24 is pretty easy at Big Willow; heck, you could probably do that staying in 2nd gear the whole time :laugh

The only thing about Big Willow is that if you crash in turn 8, just let go, Jack... please promise you will let go, Jack! You won't have to worry about testing the suit, but rather if the casket fits.
That's why I race WERA and not WSMC. Nobody dies in the WERA tracks.

Yeah Turn 8 is pretty scary at over 130mph (1000's hit 140mph+). I've had two friends crash pretty bad in Turn 8, but they lived to tell the tales and are still racing WSMC. It gets pretty windy in turn 8 sometimes too, all you need is a strong gust to lift your front tire up while you are at full lean and you can kiss your bike goodbye. It is nice to only race at one track because you get used to that track and inevitably get faster and faster but on the flip side, so does the competition.
Notorious DSB
06-20-2007, 07:18 PM
You kiddin' me? In 8/9 you top out in 5th almost top in 6th and you're going well over 160mph at full tilt! I've had a few buddies who had close calls to include hitting other people and 1 guy had a handlebar from another bike snag in his leathers from getting so close. Thankfully they unjammed before having to straighten out for the front straight.
Turn 8 also has a lot of detritus on the outer 1/3 of the track so you have effectively limited to how much of the track you can use. Not fun.
Remember the last guy who tossed it didn't die from the crash itself but from being tossed OUTSIDE of the track when the berm flipped him over the fencing and onto the service roads!

I lost a good friend at willow, he crashed coming out of the last turn, and his bike landed on him. Jesus was his name, #980 raced 250's and his zx10. RIP brother. ok majority wins....
Crest
Palomar
Idyllwild
I will vote for Idyllwild
second choice Palomar
3rd the Crest, I dont really want to go though. me and Chris had a little bad encounter with Stout, so I dont want to see him again this weekend. but in reality I dont care, lets just go riding!!!:scooter
I second that vote Julio...wait a minute, Palomar has photographers and I just realized I'm a bit of a photo whore so my vote is Palomar 1st and Idyllwild 2nd :laugh
Seriously though, I like Pally and Idyllwild roughly the same, but I think I like Palomar a little more though because the ride up and down is short enough that you can do it like 4 or 5 times before heading somewhere else and I like technical stuff. Hey Arnie, we should hit up Palomar and then do Banning and Montezuma :scooter Montezuma is like the Crest with fast smooth sweepers and there's a gas station down at the bottom and we can hit up Julian for some Pie and Burgers too :cool
I lost a good friend at willow, he crashed coming out of the last turn, and his bike landed on him. Jesus was his name, #980 raced 250's and his zx10. RIP brother. Ya that track is fun, I don't race but I do ride it. I have taken all of my R1 there and have seen 175mph on the speedo going thru 7-8 and lived to talk about it. I'm still not as fast as I want to be, my times are around 1:29is un-official.. So can I join you guys for the ride this weekend. I live off hwy 74 were can I meet you?:scooter
Sorry to hear about your friend man :(. If you're running 1:29's @ Big Willow you would be one of the fastest novice level racers in WSMC :shock (if not the fastest)...might be time to get an XT or Mychron just to be sure.

On a canyon far gar far away Chris, Denny and I decide to head on to CHA we meet up in Holluud around 8:45. we Discuss our weekend for about 5 minutes and we take off to CHA, we jump on the fwy, we initiating going the speed limit than next thing I know the Speedo marked 135mph I said to my self “holyshit we are going fast”, it was a nice run on the FWY, we took the sunland exit we stop to fill up and meet the rest of the group. But since we took our sweet time they left with out us.:scooter

06-21-2007, 11:22 AM
Anyways we a snack, we geared up, throw my leg over the bike it feels so good, nice and tite, so thin and red.
we head on in our journey to the crest, the weather was good, I was feeling good, so we go thru the back side all the way to tree, everything was feeling like a typical Sunday ride, we had a good pace going my 1098 was handling like it was rails, listen to the exhaust note coming from the Termis turn after turn, feeling the extraordinary throttle response, 140 plus HP on my hand, and to mention the flawless handling of the 1098 enjoying my excruciating ride, forgetting about all my worries and dues, it was defiantly feeling like a Sunday ride. The 1098 is so sex appeal wow I love my bike.
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:23 AM
Chris, Denny and I get to the tree and of course we see the usual guys parts unlimited Mike, and Steve R6, of course steve as we know was part of the group which was at Palomar. He started talking about the Palomar ride and told me his side of the story, long story short they thought we went back thru the front of Palomar which we did not, we all know the truth about last Saturday. :1
:popcorn:popcorn:popcorn

06-21-2007, 11:25 AM
However, is about 10:30am we decided to go to combs and watch the WSBK race, so we team up and travel to new combs as I was in front of the pack setting a fast pace, we make the usual stop at 9 mile, as we are riding we see other riders coming on the opposite way of the road giving the thumps up, no cops cool. While we almost come upon the other stop, going about 90-100mph we come to the last turn and I see a couple bikes on the side of the around so I start to slow down, getting closer I realize is a motorcycle cop but he was wearing blue not the usual brown chp colors, he obviously heard us coming Chris and I, and jump in front of us to try to make us stop giving us hand signals to pull over, and literally hand to maneuver around him going into the next lane, everything was happening so fast, the adrenaline rushing to my vanes was making it hard to think we slowed drastically me and Chris stop and the intersection looking back if he was going to come after us and we decide to head towards Newcomb with the purpose of hide out and blend in with the crew.
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:25 AM
And here we go Chris leads this time of course setting a fast pace, leaning harder and pushing faster turn after turn. I was thinking in my head I hope we don’t get caught, and finally Chris and I arrive to combs, with adrenaline flowing our hart rate level elevated, we blended in with the crowd and we decided to hide out for a couple hours, as we waited for the other group, Chris and I were discussing what we just went thru.
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:27 AM
AND THEN IT HIT ME. How often do you and I fool ourselves into thinking that we're getting away with something in our lives? How many times do we think, what really matters is whether or not we get caught.
I think we tend to have the notion that it’s not about whether we have character or not, it’s just about whether we got. We run personal errands on company time,
Or we tell our wife we got caught in traffic, or we spread a little gossip,
Or we pocket some work supplies and say, "We’ll never get caught. No one’s going to find out. Ultimately we don’t get away with anything. Isn’t that kind of a scary truth? Maybe it’s a helpful truth too. Maybe if we really get the fact that God is with us all the time, maybe it would have a positive impact on the way we live our lives. :popcorn:popcorn:popcorn:dropjaw
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:28 AM
The other group gets there and started to talk about stout, and yes it was him just wearing a different uniform don’t know why? However, we watch the races eat some lunch enjoy the laughs, gossip, so now is about 1pm and it’s time to head down. Denny, Chris and I blended in on a big group, and we were fighting for who’s going to be sweeper there was like 5 volunteers for sweeper, Chris and I did not want to be in the front of the group and encounter you know who again, so I’m at the end of the pack going about 40mph, traveling down the crest.
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:28 AM
we see other riders come up and giving the hand signal that there is cops, so we keep it safe with the speed, and suddenly there is a line of cars and a bunch of bikers waiting to go.
1098BANDIT
06-21-2007, 11:29 AM
It seem like there was a road block perhaps the authorities were checking for documents which it was no worries to me so the group of riders we were with decide to go on the right shoulder and get to the front and find out what happen, and guess who was there and why? There was terrible accident the bike was basically half way into the cliff the bike look total. We slowly past thru the scene, and Mr. you know who? Was starring at us as we passed by him, mad dogging like always.
I hope the rider of that motorcycle was ok. Anyways we get to the shell in one piece no tickets just a little mishap, overall it was a good day. A good Sunday ride.:slam:slam

Good time today as usual Mark. Good riding with you and everyone else. The pie at Julias was good! But damn it was hot after Banner! Yikes!
So Mark and I stopped at a Chevron in Temecula to gas up and get something to drink. As we were doing that a white Ford F150 with some trailer trash in it pull up. Two guys get out with the driver still in the p/up. Next thing you know the two guys were running out of the gas station with two cases of beer in tow and they jump in the back of the pickup and the take off. The clerk behind the counter is right behind them and asking Mark to get the license plate number! The fuckers just ripped off the Chevron for two cases of beer! What a buncha dumbasses. In broad daylight with lots of witnesses and video surveillance. I've no doubt they'll catch these low lifes.

Yo fellas (Arnie, Arnold, and Jim), I had fun riding with you all today. Good to finally meet Arnold, and Jim (Kickin' It).
It was a fun day except for all the popo presence around Palomar, it was like a feeding frenzy. The CHP chief must have said, "Our budget deficit is growing, go up to Palomar and write as many tickets as you can today." Don't ask any of us to post up any pics because everybody was riding like 30mph up Palomar and we only went up once because the cop presence was so high...I'm sure the photographer went home really early today :lol
Good time today as usual Mark. Good riding with you and everyone else. The pie at Julias was good! But damn it was hot after Banner! Yikes!
I have never seen so many cops surveying the canyons at one time! Riding anywhere on Sat and having fun wasn't gonna happen.
Mark, do you care to share you rundown with the CHP?! Nice to ride with you Arnie, Mark, Mark and Jim!
I'm still tripping on the fact that I came up on a CHP SUV doing 151mph going from Banner to Borrego! :shock:shock
Sorry for chiming in late but afterwards I went to my friends BBQ, got pretty hammered to ride home.
I'm just glad we all made it home safe and moving violation free!:slam

CHP?...Oh yeah...
Arnie and I saw a motorcycle cop heading down the tight side of Palomar as we were heading up. We were just about to turn left at the Yield sign to pull into Mother's when I look in my rearview and see the flashing lights and the siren go off. I'm thinking "Fack, What did I do?" I was going like 40mph the whole time so I know I wasn't speeding. Then I thought, maybe I didn't stop long enough at the sign...but it's a Yield sign so you don't have to stop completely. Anyway, the guy pulled me over for not having a license plate. I just told him the bike was new, but I had my registration. He says, "Yeah the bike smells new...so you're still breaking it in huh? what is this, a Ducati!?" I'm like yeah, it's a Ducati and yes, she's still breaking in (even though I have over 2200 miles already :sweat). He then says, "Where'd you buy it?" I'm like "Modesto...but here's my registration." I hate the stupid small talk Officers use, so I showed him what he wanted and cut the responses short; but thankfully he said "Have a nice day." once he figured out my bike wasn't stolen he let me go.
On the way to Julian, we ran into a swarm of grasshoppers too. Those damn bugs attacked us like a plague of locusts. They kept hitting me like a bunch of paintballs :lol I didn't even know what had hit us until we pulled into the gas station, and I pulled one of them off of my back wheel...it was still alive and kicking :ninja
Arnold, that long straight away heading towards Borrego was SICK! I had hit 160+mph on the Speedo amd it kept pulling, but I had to slam on the brakes because you and Jim slowed down so fast I thought I was gonna clip your back wheel and I didn't see the cop either until later...that was a close one :dropjaw Man, I can't wait to get the 1098 on the track next Sunday :greg On the way home yesterday, I thought about all of the close-call events that took place and turned my iPod to a very special song...Ice Cube's "It Was a Good Day"

lolz na 5"11. just not a very good pix, I was actually leaned over pretty dam good he must of not got the best one. I saw both Rick and JP they were both at the same spot one shooting upward the other cought me going down. This bike has a sik lean angle.
here's the other one he got of me.. Still not the best. Hitting the APEX was probably the best but must of been out of range.

Man, the other rider that went down on ACH Saturday is another SCSer, Eric (Stitches). All accounts point to him coming down while Sapan (Menefreghista) was going up and Sapan crossed the DY and did a head-on with Eric.
Eric's hand is pretty mangled and his thumb might not make it. We all hope it does and he comes out of it okay.

Yeah the whole PoPo thing kinda sucked especially when we came up on the CHP SUV. When he turned to go to Borrego and I looked down to see the temp of 105 F I thought no way I'm following him crawling through Montezuma.
But I can't say it was a total loss, I still got to ride this beautiful machine they call the 1098 and meet some Arnie and Mark

That sucks to hear about the SCS'ers. I know Sapan, he came to my house with another SCS buddy and bought my '05 ZX-10R from me and I've seen him at the Crest a few times. Hard to believe he went down so hard...hope he recovers quickly.
Will, I guess his bike is totaled huh? His CBR was pretty nice too...:(

Yeah, I read that SCS thread...insane how the two know each other and have ridden together. I think I met Sapan before. Hope they have speedy recoveries with limited issues :(
I finally picked up another track bike, so it's off to that venue again...it's been a year away from the track for me. Can't count on the canyons for grins with all the Popo around

Can you ever spend too much time posing? I say Nay-Nay!
Besides, my custom plate didn't come correct. The geniuses at DMV made them for a car instead so I have to wait another 3 months!
On top of that, I didn't get to buy my new Dainese suit because someone snatched it out from under me.
Hence, I have nothing new to pose off. The Pumas are already old news. I need to sell them and something new.

I don't know if he can go any lower, so whatever suit he gets will be an upgrade, unless it's like a Fieldsheer, Cortech, or AGV or something like that but even then, it's just a lateral swap.
That's what he gets for not starting a new ride thread when I asked him so I know where all the revenue is going to come from the new fiscal year.

Says the man who also wears a Teknic suit. I guess at least Ant's has a back hump which does bring the suit more into at least the early 2002's in styling.
Larry, isn't your Teknic a 2 piece touring model? This will be our July topic then. Is Larry wearing a Teknic touring suit?
