Ok, lets see if we can organize a group ride up the coast to Laguna for the race. It would start Friday Am In Orange County with several pit stops along the way for more riders. Maybe Santa Monica, Valencia, Santa Barbera, Obisbo you get the Idea.
All sugestions are welcome.:scooter :scooter :scooter:scooter:scooter:scooter

Being at the track on Friday is well worth it if you watch the corkscrew. In '05 it was great as very few of the riders had been there before so seeing them crest the hill and drop in was like watching a 5 year old tip toe into 45 degree lake water.
Anyway, I believe Guintoli and maybe Jacque are the only newbs there this year so it may not be so fun but with the 800's, you never know.

Wow a ride that far on a bike that makes your right hand numb in just 30min of riding?? Well ok? Sounds like fun.. I'll stop in for some updates. I haven't missed a race since 2001, I don't know forsure about this year but I'd hate to miss it. What about the Red Bull ride up there, anyone hear about it? And any news on the parking for us who ride up there? Can we park on the Ducati Island?

I may be interested in riding down there. I'm going this year (as always :)), but I always cage it as the drive is 6 hrs...on the 1098 that would be very uncomfortable since normal 100 mile freeway rides result in cramped wrists and an iron butt.

Truck it up and ride it around like Devin did down here.

Ok, So no one is interested. I must admit that it is a long way for a 1098. Guess I'll trailer like I did the last 2 years. Hey, how about a group trailer caravan. lol, cheers

I trucked it because I brought my dog down with me. If not for that I would have ridden down. I have done 400mi days on my 1098 no problem. I honestly believe I can do about 700mi days if the opportunity arose. That being said, just get there with your bike, that's the point!

That's EXACTLY what I do every year :scooter. You feel completely left out if you cage it around town, especially on Cannery Row where the whole street is packed with two wheels.
I plan on bringing my full leathers up; anybody know any good twisties up there?

Guys,
If anyone is interested. My buddy Mark and I will be leaving Pismo Beach on July 19th, Thursday morning at 8am. Anyone interested in riding up with us, PM me and I'll send you our itinerary and our phone numbers. Below is Mark's email.
I have highlighted the Shell Gas Station where we can meet other riders on Thursday, 7/19. The exit off Hwy-1 is Spyglass Rd. Tell them to meet us by 7:45 am for an 8am departure. Then we will ride up Hwy-1, and have lunch in Carmel, CA at the famous Casanova Restaurant.
Get a final count soon so we can make reservations at Casanova. I’ll contact them today and reserve a table for 8 people. If more plan on joining us, let me know and I’ll ask for a larger table.

so are you guys riding your bikes to Monterey

That's 6 hours by car without traffic... imagine hitting the congestion on the way up on your bike in the full heat of the day while your 1098 cooks your thigh and the 1 change of clothes you can pack in your backpack since there's no luggage space on the bike at all.

thats something you would do, don't act like you never ridden far before.

I've ridden to Vegas before... never do it again. Then I get tricked by FutNuckers to go down to the 15 and BFE and have to fight to survive on the way back, TWICE!
