love V-twins! Ok, I've ridden and owned many sportbikes over the years, currently I have an RC-51 and 748 in the stable. I'm racing some endurance on an ancient Honda F3 next season, so don't laugh too much. Its all about the seat time baby! :D
I hope to have a 1098 by 2008

Is the "s" worth the difference of 5k?
Sell the V-Rod you will be much happier with the 1098 twin

For you that only ride in a straight i'd say no :biggrin
Seriously....... some say the engine is exactly the same while some say the S will have some titanuim goodies in the engine, so i'm not sure what to believe. Apart from that the S will have ohlins, lighter wheels, and some small carbon bits. If that's worth 5k, depends a lot on how you plan to use it and how much those 5k will "cost" you.

Hi, all. I'm Johnny and I'm a dealer. Before you kick me out of the forum, I have been a Ducati enthusiast since 1995 and a Ducati owner since 2001. I have lots of information about the 1098 so please don't hesitate to ask me anything, even if it's to clarify/elaborate on a rumor you might have heard.
My dealership (www.teammcc.com) is accepting deposits on the 1098, but my main purpose here is to see what the latest buzz is and to provide as much support as I can.
If you are buying a 1098 and spending 20K on a bike what's an extra 5k for the S. You will be sorry if you cheap out.

What's up all. At the moment I'm riding a 06r6. The 1098 will be my first Duc. Once I pick up the 1098 the 06r6 will be a track bike and the 1098 will be for an occasional twisty ride and commute. I'm going to ride the 1098 like a b!tch... :lp No babyin her her.:badgerslayer :badgerslayer

Ciao,
sono Alex. Ok, continue in english. My specialties are translating italian articles to english, and destroying 749's while going going fast in straights and slow in turns. Typical poser who carbon fiber's the crap out of his bikes but doesn't do track days. But damn I look good doing all this. Not sure how much posting I'll be doing on here since I feel loyal to ducati.ms and I have a huge post count of like... 64.. holy sh!t... it will take me years to match that here. OK. done.:shots

Hi, All!
My name is Blake, and I live in the "corn desert" of NE Illinois. I have multiple bikes, but the 1098S and Desmosedici will be my only Ducs.
I ordered my bikes from forum member/dealer "Johnny MCC" in Chicago. He's an incredible resource for technical knowledge, and usually has the inside scoop from Ducati on most issues.
