Devin (R1Racer), Terry are I were planing to leave from my house in Valencia at 10am (I'm working Sunday night), go up the 5 to Frazier Park, to Lockwood Valley Road, to the 33, to Ojai.
If we have time we'll come back the same way. If not, go through Ojai to the 126 and come back.
This is one of the nicest motorcycle roads around here. Highly rated on Pashnit's site. It is gorgeous, twisty, and hardly any cars.
One way is about 115 miles. Roudtrip 230. If we come back through Santa Paula and the 126, roudtrip will be 174 miles.
It's definately something different.
All welcome
Let me know. :scooter

Anthony,
Get off the freeway at Lyons make a right. About 500 feet on your right will be a Shell station. We are now meeting there. I just got off the phone with Devin and that's the new plan.
The Cycle Gear is actually behind and to the right of the Shell station.
See you at 10am!

Devin, Anthony, Terry and I had a great day! 225 miles for me round trip. Weather was great, company fantastic, beautiful roads except in a couple of sections of Lockwood Valley and most important NO COPS!
We took off from Valencia a little after 10am. Got to Ojai a little after noon. We road at a good pace.
We ate at this Mexican Restataunt I always eat at when I'm in Ojai (pretty good food). I don't even know the name only the location.
We came back the same way we went, through the 33 and Lockwood Valley.
The 33 is 37 miles in length and very twisty. Top elevation 5500'. Like ACH, but better. Great road condition and NO COPS!
Anyway, now that Spring is here and Summer's around the corner, I'm sure we'll be going back.
Everyone is welcome. I'll let you know when.
:)

Anthony,
I think you mean Lockwood Valley Road. The 33 was the bitchin' twisty section you loved.
Lockwood Valley has a couple of little sections with a mini stream (today about 1/2" of water) running across the road in one small spot and some corners with some rocks. No worse to me than ACH or San Francisquito Canyon.
I had a great time. Thanks for coming! We'll have to do it again.
Next time "en mas" (lots of us 1098 guys).

Devin;

The road north of Lockwood is a little more wide open and flat. Know you now where you can get it all:1 In So Cal.:greg :greg

Devin had some fun with a guy on a 999. The guy was on the side of the road as we past, he must have got on his bike quick enough to catch us both he thought he was going to leave us, but he didn't realize Devin doesn't play dat. After running a mile or so he checked both mirrors then looked directly behind him only to see Devin almost kiss his rear wheel the guy got spoked :shock and let us both back by. Never saw him again...

He came up on us like a squid and soon realized He might ride them but he doesn't own them...
so he got owned.:kicknuts

Also saw just one 1098, so when the 3 of us came through, we got mad stares and props from a few...

Peace

He must have read the Motorcyclist article with Doug Polen and actually believed that marketing drivel to be true! I had to represent for the 1098's!!! He did get pwnd, I felt a little bad (no I didn't!!!) :owned

I posted the following on the Ducati.ms board hoping that the 999 owner is a member there. I do like to talk a little shit now and then:

Took a 4 day weekend this Memorial day and headed down to SoCal to do a little riding southern style. Rode the Malibu canyons on Friday, ACH on Sat/Sun but the best was Hwy 33 on Monday. That road is awsome!!! Good pavement, not very many blind/decreasing/off-camber turns and no cops! It was a blast. Oh, and if you are the guy on the 999 that jumped on his bike after 3 1098's rolled passed and thought you would be the local hero and show us how fast your 999/you are, sorry to spook you when I re-passed you. My buddy says you even let him by as well. I kept an eye on my mirrors to see if you could keep up but after about the first 5-6 turns you disappeared. As my friend said, you may live there but you don't own it. Now you know that the Motorcyclist/Doug Polen article was just marketing drivel, don't go believing that stuff. If you don't know which dogs to run with, you should probably stay on the porch! http://www.ducati.ms/forums/images/smilies/thinking.gif

In my book, if you jump on your ride and try to run down another bike to prove you're the king of your hill, you better be. If not, I'm coming at you like Tyson, "I'll eat your children!". :kicknuts
