I'm not a pro photographer by any stretch, but I tried :1poke. Also I only took pics that interested me, some new bikes were so hideous that my lens almost cracked while trying to take a pic :badteeth

Hope some members enjoy them :beer

I've never used a SSSA type rear stand before - but is it just me or is the rear stand on the 1098 'in reverse' ???

Jepp, your right.. Probably to keep someone from stumbeling over it
and tipping the bike over.

Yes it is reversed, it was done so no one would brush against the stand possibly knocking the bike over :)

Oppps, sorry I will correct it ASAP :beer Me and spelling are never on great terms :lmao

Saw the bike too for the first time at the Toronto show. I like the bike but is it just me or the bike looks a bite cheap compare to the 999? I think its the black trim below the tank and the unpainted mirrors. I think I'm going to get my dealer to paint the mirrors for me.

I thought is was going to be better looking than the 999 but I didn't think so. You can't really compare the two since they are so different. Overall, nice looking bike and it will join my 999 in the garage this spring.

I tend to agree with you on the cheapiness, even though i've never seen it in person. What really stands out are the hydraulic fluid reservoirs near the handlebars. The 999 reservoirs looked great and solid. The 1098's look like misc assembled parts from the local dollar store.

I for one liked the bike, the cheap looking bike belonged to one of the Japanese MFG

The Long Beach show was going on at the same time so here's my contribution:

The 07 Tundra was one sweet truck too! I won a set of gardening gloves for getting a question right! 6 speed sequential automatic transmission!

The 1098s w/$12K worth of accessories! drool factor=10

A Full Termignoni system, ehhh $2795

"Take me to your leader" What planet is this alien from? 200hp, $65K Ducati...maybe if I won the lottery and owned a 999!

The 1098!! It's such an awesome and beautiful bike!
The seat doesn't feel like a 998 but all things can be considered!

Just trying to image how much fun this bike would be to ride!!

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/abasada/GravesR1.jpg

Ok, so back to the 1098! The carbon fiber S model they had @ the Ducati booth was pretty sick. The one at Brea was even better b/c you can actually sit on it!
*tick* *tick* *tick* Ducati's infamous dry clutch ticking sound. Check out the slipper clutch!

The Ohlins!!
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/abasada/Ohlins.jpg
Cast aluminum on the regular 1098 and forged aluminum on the S... decisions, decisions, decisions!

Oh and that the clear line running across the guage is used to remotely adjust the brakes... $700 from Ducati

What have they done to the R1 ?

I used to think it looked pretty cool before but
now with the huge front lights it looks ridiculous.:puke

And the rear heat shield is huge also, the 1098 shield looks tiny
in comparison..

The front lights look exactly like the 04R1 in size, the cat was moved to the side hence the bigger heat-shield, and once you put on a aftermarket exhaust I bet you could remove that shield or put a CF one on instead.

Have you seen the bike in person??

No, have not seen it in person, will get the chance in the end of January.

So, maby it looks better in person, anyway, i guess you are right regarding the aftermarket exhaust.

The only thing I had a hard time with was the tail section, with the stock exhaust, but once you get rid of the enormous mudflap :badteeth and put on the Akro Evo it is going to look great. :badgerslayer

And yes pictures never do anything justice for example the 1098 looks better in person :biggrin
