I know there have been a lot of show pictures posted. These are more focused on mechanical details (wheels, brake lever). I also took care to focus clearly and I have set the colors using a gray card (although the colors are still somewhat off due to this medium).

Camera EOS 1DsMK II, Lense EF 24-70mm /f2.8

Please do not quote this posting since there are way to may photos to duplicate!

Spalding12,

thanks for the nice comments. I get a lot of satisfaction out of being appreciated. As you know, there is a lot more to photography thank clicking the shutter. Its actually a lot of work. The posting made to this forum took about 6 hours of work today. This includes developing the raw photos, and then "touching" each and every photo to ensure accurate color is rendered, that each picture is unsharpened appropriate for the photo, cropping as needed, adjusting highlights and shadows to bring out details of interest, resizing for the web, uploading to my side, organizing the photos, and making the posts. Of course this doesn't include what it took to actually make the original photos.

I love my hobbies and I get a lot out of them because I am passionate and put a lot into them. I enjoyed making the posts today and hope everyone enjoys the pictures ... since that's what it is all about for me.

The pictures are VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! And I was not aware of all the "behind the scenes" work that you put into them. Thanks for the work its what elevates this forum to being the BEST!!

thanks for that 6 hours
i appreciate it.... more than you know

after our 8 day, 2,800 mile car trip this year....
a family bonding experience
i only took 650 images or so....
spent about 12 hours at my mac powerbook 17"
got tired by the end of them

THIS was my BIGGEST challenge:

http://savel.smugmug.com/gallery/1786058

the Luray Caverns in Virginia.... we happened to be there on their 125th anniversary...
where they light THOUSANDS of candles (just once a year)
the post-processing here about killed me

i also spend a great deal of time (though, no recently) @ www.niknoncafe.com

and there are PLENTY of Canon users over there as well

Spalding12,

Your Luray Caverns pictures turned out nice. Well done. Its nice to have someone to interact with who understands. By the way, I use Kelby's book all the time. In fact it is sitting right next to me as I type. I am impressed you are friends with him. He did an outstanding job with his book. Another book I really like is Eismann's Masking and Compositing.

I have a web site, but I am not happy with it right now. I am a programmer and I am currently in the middle of building a new version of my site. I probably have 3 months till its done. Its actually killing me try to do that with everything else. I have a lot of stuff I'd like to share, but until the site is done I'll just sit on them.

When I get time, I'll post some stuff in this Pictures forum. By the way, when I post my photos they are real small so you can't do much with them other than look at them on a web page. Do I have to worry about losing valuable pictures. I have some really great stuff from the USGP two years ago and I have been hesitant to share them for fear of losing them? What do you think?

you might remember that i am a pediatrician...
i am honored to take care of scott's 2 children.... that's how we became friends

here's a link of a fun shoot we did together some time in the past:

http://savel.smugmug.com/gallery/1931026

i use smugmug as my online photo storage company.
mostly for allowing my friends and family all over the world to see my images on the day i take them, AFTER i post-process them, of course

Eismann's book is great, as well
the building where his offices are.... and where all the photoshop tv shows are broadcast... is around the corner from one of my offices

WHAT A THINKTANK
it is an AWESOME place

as for your USGP images
not sure why you think you'd LOSE them.
you ought to have a smugmug account
easy...
cheap...
great site...

then UPLOAD all your images so that we can see them

i'll be happy to help in any way i can
