OK, so my bike has arrived 3 weeks early, SWEEEET.

So I pay for it and insure it, Bits have started rolling in, I beleive Dan Kyle is sending my full system today or tomorrow....SWEEET.

I had a 2 peice Corporate suit in the deal as well as boots, red AGV and a battery tender, It arrived last friday, so I try it on and its way too big...I fucked up the size 100% my fault, I gauged my size from a different brand. So I send it back for the right size, end of story I hope.

So Im driving this morning when the phone rings, its Ducati with bad news, the suit I sent back was the only one they had in stock, and they cant replace it, something about the stock info on their computer not being up to date????

So Im thinking to myself "yeah cool, I can wait for one to come from Italy...or Thailand wherever no biggie".

Then the lady goes on to tell they have a Ducati Corse race suit in my size, she pauses to let the implications of that sink in......Then she say's theres a catch and Im thinking yeah a $2699 catch. So she say its a bit more colourfull than the one I wanted but If Im OK with that and Im willing to wear it they will send it out immediately at no cost to me, if im OK with that.

So my brain starts going;

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING

I calmly say yeah Im ok with that, she tells me she is sending it right away, I tell her I love her work, Im very pleased with the outcome and Im going to wear that suit with pride.:yahoo

So im pretty stoked with the whole deal.....I just wish this rain would fuck off so I could ride my bike home....when I park it in my garage I want a shiney sparkly new bike for a photo sesssian not a chain dry cleaning followed by a dash defogging.

So it looks like I will get to break her in on Sunday Yea:yahoo:yahoo:yahoo:yahoo

The Corse suit will look great, but it's 1 piece ya know.

Steve the Genius :thumbup he is the tech in Wollongong.. i hear there are a bunch of guys from the armed forces in melbourne that get together and ship their bikes up to him to service... he is very very good...goes on Turismo every year in the Big Red Truck, fixes the breakdowns and crashes where he can to keep you on the road...

X, Steve talked you out of it??? maybe until after the 1st service yeah?

there is a DOCNSW club track day on August 17th, see www.docnsw.org.au (http://www.docnsw.org.au) for details... also may be worth you hooking up with www.scdoc.org.au (http://www.scdoc.org.au) , good bunch of guys from the Gong too... membership forms on the sites...

I might be thinking about the manager/owner?????

Appearantly I get automatic membership to SCDOC with the bike for one year then I pay membership fee's thereafter.....cool.

August?????? how far......well that gives me time to run it in and do some other stuff.:thumbup

Im having the ride height set when I pick it up, so hopefully its just a matter of tuning rather than spring replacments, what sag was it that Dan Kyle recommends 40mm front, 30mm rear

How much do you weigh X??

I can give you an idea what springs you should be using.

Well the 8th is out but the 5th might be on.

Mitchell...I'll try and remember that, Im a dunce when it comes to names, but I tend to think steve would be into it and the manager would be into protecting warranty cost. I dont know if I'll get to speak to him when I pick up the bike, the sales lady is aware I want to set up the ride height before I ride out, and she told me today she would let them know, the bike hasnt been tested yet...fucking rain!!! So If I do get to talk to while we set up I'll ask about cam timing, quoting numbers I've seen here, I think I will give them a set of numbers to work with as opposed to letting them find there way.....maybe. I asked someone there and they kinda said up to 8hrs depending??? It sounded dubious at best.
I'll wait until I get the termi's fitted......and decide wether or not to get the vdst thingo, I like to do things myself but the warranty????? You know how that goes so we'll see, I'll probably just get them to fit the termis and do the cams at the same time.

ozducati

Kat is good value, and knows what she is talking about... Steve already has the cam timing specs, and would be able to tell you if anything else is too radical or ok...he knows his stuff for sure... and he can set up the suspension for you, just ask them to do it when you pick the bike up, as he will need you there on the bike to set it...

it will only rain the day you plan to pick the bike up, so mark Friday as pickup in your diary, then go saturday - no rain ! from the book of Murphy's Law!

Standard 1.0 fork springs should be OK for you weight.

You will need to go to either a 90 or 95 rear spring (standard 80N/mm) and adjust the pre-load down to about 15mm (standard is 23mm which is way toooooo much)

The 1098S Ohlins front fork valving is crap so I would recommend you get the forks re-valved if you are thinking of going anywhere near a racetrack.

It stopped raining for a while today so I went to pick up my bike, it wasnt ready at all, they were putting it together, they also said they wouldnt test it on a wet road and they dont want to give it to me while it might rain.

So I was driving my wife and 3 small kids home when I was T-boned by a taxi righting off my car and putting my wife and 3 kids in hospital. Luckaly they were released a couple of hours ago its was just soft tissue damage in the spine....lateral whiplash all round.

Full insurence has it covered, but still who needs this to happen, the cabby admiited fault at the scene, a witness said this guy lives around the corner and did the same thing a couple of weeks ago?????

So you take the good with the bad and life rolls on....I hope to get a look at my bike in the next week, this incident has kinda put the kybosh on riding with a busted family at home?????:hung

Wow! Guess that wasn't quite what you were expecting when you woke up in the morning, huh?

Glad to hear your wife and kids are ok - that sounds like a nasty accident.

Hopefully the rain will stop, your family will recover quickly, and you'll get a chance to take your new baby home, very soon......sounds like you could use a nice break after all that.

Stock front springs are OK for you but you will need 95N/mm on the rear with 15mm pre-load. Standard are 80N/mm with 23mm pre-load.

Hope the wife & kids are OK by the way after the T-Bone.

Cheers :)

BTW, FYI, I'm about same featherweight, today came in my 1091-31-95, yes 95 rear spring, organise it thru Steve Cramer Products, as for 15mm preload I think thats close, but it's a get on it and see thing, rider sag priority no:1.
PM me and I'll tell you how to get a metal preload adjuster nut from him for free p/no: 531-12 so you can piss that plastic piece of shit off.
Front spring will stay stock for now, remember ladies "small changes at a time"

Thanks for the offer, but the 1098R comes with metal pre-load adjuster nuts.

One of the first things I did on my 1098S was ditch that piece of plastic shite!

Congrats on the bike and I hope you and your family are doing well. Would normally say take care but when you aren't in the wrong it's a bit pointless. Sucks sometimes when things are out of your hands. Once again hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I dont realy care for cars just the peaple in them, now losing a bike.......

My car insurence is being adjusted at the end of the month to devalue my car away from agreed value to real value....bastards, so I've been leaving it close to the street in the hope it would be stolen before the date of adjustment. So I talked to my repairer, we have come to an arrangment that will see me with a cheque before this new adjustment kicks in......lol funny how things work out....so I've been helping my wife and kids with the idea of getting another car and to forget the righten off one, it did its job well, forget it and think about picking a new one, i m hoping it will distract them from the trauma of the incident, there little so they were attatched to the car.

Wollongong and dodgy driving....well this is my worst experience here the Gong, generaly its great for me, this I think is a par for the course on the whole but i kinda think driving here is realy good.

The sequence......my commodore looks like it only took a light hit but check out the fucked up taxi

Thanks Ducmon, Say... how long does it take to prep one of these baby's, when I was in the shop there was I think 2 or 3 guys rushing around my bike, an R was beside it, so said umm I think this is my bike, the head tech smile knowingly but the rest got real serious and said NOOO thats your bike, but I was kidding hehehe

So they were definatley working on the motor....left side I think in the 45 seconds I was in the workshop, maybe threading nuts on the engine case???? I kinda thought something was being "taken care of" before I insisted I ride off with it, but Im new to Ducati's so I dont realy know the procedure there.
